No horse shit kind of a “man and his beer” type shop, one of the most real Craft Beer Bars in Kreuzberg with over 22 good beers on tap. Besides the requisite tap we got a curated list of selected bottles on a constantly changing basis, depending on availability. They got international and domestic craft beers as well as classic and special crafts and of course, ironically they always have some rarities. One of the best parts here is the trained staff ain’t gunna let you drink no Pils. As a bonus they got some beer talks every once in a while for all of you extra nerdy beer nerds.
Protokoll, the true beer nerd joint for beer nerds and beer loving friends. Protokoll is a Friedrichshain shop where every beer nerd knows your name and they’re always glad you came. Their noble venture arose from the change in the Berlin beer scene, and was inspired by the international craft beer movement. They are committed to artisanal brewed beers, limited releases all with a feel good experience. Not far off from Boxhagener and Simon Dach Str. there is also lots of food in the vicinity.
Prenzlauer Berg- Birra Italian Craft Beer
Birra Italian Craft Beer, our only shop over in Prenzlauer Berg is a place for cool people. Lets face its a place for cool beer people who know how to drink beer while looking at you in a sultry manner while saying, “Ciao.” Their project is born from the experience of two of Italy’s greatest master brewers one who owns two successful pubs in Rome, and another one of the founders of Milan’s Birrificios Lambrate. Their goal is to promote the culture of Italian craft beer which is why only select Italian craft beers are tapped there. Bonus on this shop is that they got some Italian cheese and meat plates, because when you drink Italian beer, you gotta do it in an Italian style.
Neukölln- Muted Horn
Of the more elegant type joints on our list, Muted Horn, located in Neukölln is here to pay respect to the venerable art of drinking beer. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to drink your suds from a snifter at some point. Muted Horn is an independent craft beer bar with 22 rotating taps, including 2 nitro, and over one hundred specialty bottles. For the more exploratory type of drinker they got some taster trays to find out what it is you’re really in to. They also got a bring your own food policy, so you get to make your own pairing here.
Friedrichshain- The Castle
The Castle Friedrichshain, is all about having a good time. Of course you could totally nerd out and be a beer nerd as The Castle boast fifty beer taps to try and is the most robust of the joints on this list. With an active events program in their second floor loft, they constantly offer a good time to all who attend. Besides the fifty beers on tap they got over fifty different types of gins, so a doubly good time for you double beer/gin nerds.
For the real deal beer aficionado there is no place more suited than Kreuzberg’s Biererei. Mr. Eatler likes to call it The Scientific Tap Room, mostly due to their clean elegant set up, conducive to truly experiencing what their product is all about, but also because if you are a beer nerd, they are all about business.
