October 1, 2018|Openings

Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain, Neukölln, Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg- Kanaan, Barwas, Akram, Raz, Veggie Meets Shawarma, Malafritta, 260 Grad

openingsKanaan, the Prenzlauer Berg based hummus favourite and overall good-feel producer is expanding their operation into to unexpected directions. Last week they opened a booth at the Galeria Kaufhof in Alexanderplatz. Check it out here.

Barwas, a new Freidrichshain based Israeli restaurant opened up earlier this month and will no doubt please the eager Berlin Hummus Crowd.  This one has been catching some heat among the Israeli community. Check it out here

Down in Neukölln off of Tempelhofer Feld we got a new resto called Arabic Diner AKRAM. The joint opened up last week and offers some of the standard Arabic fare but oddly does it in what looks like a standard 1950s Long Island diner. Interesting combo.

In Prenzlauer Berg we got a new Shawarma joint called Veggie meets Shawarama that opened up about two weeks ago. Nope, its not veggie shawarma so don’t get too excited veggie readers, however they do offer a plethora of veggie options. Besides that it looks like they offer a pretty standard Shawarama, Falafel Teller.

New cafe opened up in Tegel called RAZ Cafe. The deal is that its a strait forward cafe with an additional work space option. They claim that the Reinickendorf region is bustling economically, so now there is a coffee shop.

Update on Malafritta, new Kreuzberg Fried Pizza joint that is the sibling to cult favourite pizza shop Malafemmena is gearing up for its opening and is starting to show legit signs of life on its media. They confirm that they are less than ten days away from opening the doors. Check it out here.

New roof top lounge 260 Grad is due to open up over in the new Mercedes Platz in Friedrichshain. The coming date is in Mid-October and at the moment there is only a digital mock up of what the place is supposed to look like, so certainly construction is still in heavy swing. Check it out here.

Cordobar, the popular Mitte wine bar that has been out of commission for the past few months as they go a Restaurant transformation, has announced its upcoming return to life. The date is due on the first week of November. Check it out here.

International confectioner, Ladurée announces their Charlottenburg location. A sign of the times it seems as Berlin migrates towards the candy ass yuppy demographic. No clear indication yet of when exactly they will be opening as they only announced last week. Check it out here.

Up For Grabs

Friedrichshain – Miyaki Sushi is up for grabs at about 1.8k a month. There’s a deposit of 8k and the space measures about 50sqm. They have already moved out, so the space needs to be fully furnished. All of the necessary connections for a new kitchen are available, as well as a fume hood. Right around the corner from the Simon-Dach-Kiez and Boxhagener Platz. Real estate agency BIDDEX needs to be contacted for this one.

Boxhagener Straße 121

Spandau – Kaffee am Kirchplatz is up for grabs at a monthly 2.9k. Space measures about 104sqm and also provides an outdoor seating area. It’s located right next to the Havel river. No clear info about key money and deposit, only that the owner is handing it over due to private reasons. Private reasons, the number one killer of restaurateurs.

Reformationspl. 3

Kreuzberg – LECKO’MIO  is up for grabs for a period of of 4 winter months. The owner would like to sublet her ice cream parlor starting from the 1st of November until the 1st of March. Space measure about 30sqm and is located in the heart of Kreuzberg. The rent will be communicated to serious applicants and seems to be negotiable. Probably a good bet for a longer term pop up crew.
