On The Hunt- Jobs Jobs Jobs! Schwelgerei, The Butcher, Djimalaya And More
Well, with the growing gastro scene and an ever evolving landscape of industry professionals playing musical chairs everybody is looking for something and it usually involves getting paid. Paid to cook of course, the other stuff should be done for free. Here is today’s rundown of On The Hunt, your guide to who be lookin’ for whom.
Neukölln- Schwelgerei, a bar located down the street from Schönleinstraße U-Bahn station is looking for a bar manager. So if working in a bar that serves craft beer and popcorn in jars and most likely caters to drunken hipsters dissecting Nietzsche, moral relativism and their budding DJ career is your thing, this very well might be the job for you! (Side note: Mr. Eatler definitely supports the handing out of food at bars and moral reletavism. Is it possible someone was reading Eatler and took note? If so, THANK YOU. It’s such a nice thing to know one does not have to risk dying of hunger while getting drunk.
Charlottenburg– The Butcher, located in the hub of City West´s gastro ground zero, is on the lookout for a Demi-Chef de Parti. The joint with origins in Amsterdam opened up a year ago on Kantstrasse. Menu features high-end burgers and quality fast food, served in a sleek and contemporary ambience.
Tiergarten– Oliv Eat are in need of a sous chef. The one year old joint is located on the wide stretch of Potsdamer Str. It´s a sibling of Café Oliv in Mitte, which has ben around since 2009, a veteran in the area around Münztrasse who were quite early on in feeding avo sammies and other artisanal sandwiches to the bohemian crowd. The new place resides in a high end refurbished Gründerzeit building, serving lunch dishes, coffee, sandwiches and pastry.

Mitte– Djimalaya, Israeli Mediterranean grill restaurant, is on the lookout for an experienced cook. The owner, an architect turned restaurateur, opened up the joint in 2013. Tucked between Tommi´s Burger joint and a supermarket it serves grilled meats, salads and hummus. If you have skills in dealing with a hot lava grill and knowing how to turn chickpeas into hummus, this could be your call to work with an international team.
Schöneberg: Akai Shima No Hana, a relatively unknown Japanese joint is on the lookout for a cook. Experience with Japanese cuisine is mandatory. The restaurant opened up last year in April, serving genuine Ramen, Sushi, Teriyaki, Katsu, and Udon dishes. A few weeks ago a Ramen Blogger from Japan was so surprised to have stumbled over the joint while in Berlin that he dedicated a post to show some love.
Tiergarten- Brasserie Lumières, French cuisine restaurant, is in search of motivated cooks. The joint located right next to Victoria Bar offers authentic French and seasonal dishes in a modern interpretation. If you are familiar with the cooking traditions and practices from good old France and the rich tastes and subtle nuances which go along with the noble cuisine, you might wanna give it a shot. There is a contract in view.
